All tasks have been generated. |
|
There is no more tasks to generate for now, however not all has been processed yet. Later I check if I have no holes - if there are any I will generate some small number of tasks to fill that holes and start to work with data. Thank you all for your cooperation. I will present some reports as soon as I will have some results. Please stay connected! There will be more job to do in the future.

Task generation is back! |
|
New tasks have just arrived :-)
|
|
Task generation stopped for a while. |
|
I stopped task generation for some time. This is necessary for server maintenance. New task should be again available in the morning. Thanks all.

We had a short technical break in task generation. Now all systems up again :-) You can get a lot of fresh new tasks again. Thanks.

Docking@Home ligand dataset available for download! |
| The dataset of sampled ligands generated by Docking@Home with the help of our volunteers is now publicly available for download through this link! It is by far the largest public dataset of docked ligands that have been generated by volunteersâ desktops and laptops. Explore the results we have collected over the past years and share with us the exciting scientific findings with VMD or Chimera!
Many thanks and happy holidays to our volunteers. All this would have not been possible without your help! |
|
Papers' section updated |
| We have updated our papers' section. Now this section also features our recent poster in SC13 and papers showcasing the efforts in efficient data analyses of Docking@Home datasets and investigating the gender differences in our volunteers. We also put together the presentation slides of both papers for you to read! This work could not have been possible without your help. Thank you!! |

Founder of CHARMM won the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry! |
| Martin Karplus received the 2013 Nobel Prize in Chemistry, together with Michael Levitt and Arieh Warshel for "the development of multiscale models for complex chemical systems".
Karplus is the father of CHARMM which is the code used in our Docking@Home project. This Nobel is an acknowledgment to the work done in the past 30 years with computational models and supercomputers in molecular dynamics! We are very proud to contribute to this effort through Docking@Home!

QCN Triggers Now 'Mirrored' to Stanford |
|
Work has been done on the BOINC client (you may want to upgrade at http://boinc.berkeley.edu/download.php) that will allow for triggers on this project to automatically be 'mirrored' to the main QCN servers at Stanford. This will be useful in case a server is down, your data can still be monitored and stored at Stanford. Also be sure to go to your 'Computer Location Info' button on the BOINC menu and make sure you have set the correct location for your computer(s). Thanks for running the Quake-Catcher Network!

PROJECT STATUS: Project will not submit new jobs in September, 2013 (due to the forthcoming hardware and software upgrade). |
| We would like to go to the hardware and major software upgrade, but do not like to lost any current jobs and results of our numerous volunteers. That is why our project did not submit new jobs (except for test purposes) in August and will not submit new jobs in September, 2013. Meanwhile we will collect all results from all volunteers that were not uploaded yet from the currently crunching jobs. We apologize for any possible inconvenience and thank all of more than 4000 participants for your vigorous support, kind patience and generous help! |

Project to Resume Activities in Fall 2013 |
We have some good news: the orbit@home project has been selected for funding by the NASA Near Earth Object Observations program. We plan to resume activities in fall 2013. |

Final donation sums at D@H |
|
until 14 June 2012. Raised 9254.95 euro.
29/08/2012 2970 euro
02/10/2012 1980 euro
16/11/2012 1980 euro
19/11/2012 3960 euro
4/12/2012 4474.43 euro
15/02/2013 1485.00 euro
22/07/2013 3649.18 euro
Total = 29753.56 euro
Plus 53 bitcoins still unchanged (waiting for better times)
This would be enough to pay for two years of Nate's PhD at GPUGRID.
1st year June 2012-June 2013
2nd year June 2013-June 2014
3rd year we rely on donations
Thanks everyone! Overall it was a great and fun experience for us.

Published Results! (Jul '13) |
|
Hi!
We are pleased to announce that data elaboration are finally ended! We obtained very good results and we report our conclusion on a paper published today on Chemical Physics Letters, a peer reviewed scientific journal (http://dx.doi.org/10.1016/j.cplett.2013.06.008).
We want to congratulate with all of you that collaborated with this project for this very good result: without your help this goal would not be reached.
We hope we can rely on you for our future projects based on BOINC.
Thank you very much!
Simone

Project update |
|
So, as confirmed one month ago we have now stopped doing crunching with gpus for bitcoins because at this time is not useful anymore (See ASICs).
Most likely we will keep using donate@home as an alpha test project for gpugrid. We are a bit short of people these days, so it is likely to happen in September.
A couple of things we would like to test.
1) A cpu application that we had since long ago
2) A gpu application for ati cards which is based on another code base than the one on gpugrid. We will be unlikely to be able to guarantee the same level of service for this, but this is why it is in another project.
If the applications will be mature enough, they might be moved to gpugrid in a second stage.
For donations. We now rely on you guys to make a donation and support the project via the standard donation page or via the amazon affiliate programme. The final amount of funds raised from d@H will be posted as soon as we receive the last transfer from mtgox.
Stay tuned for September.

Back on the job |
|
I'm back again!
I struck down by a sickness (must been something I kept in check since the thesis) and I'm very sorry to keep everyone waiting :( Here is what's happening right now:
* Going through your messages
* Finishing the new BOINC app
** There will be only a very limited number of workunits to make sure it works.

Project News 22 May 2013 |
| ABC@home may (again) be unavailable for some periods over the next few days. |

dDM went offline |
|
Hi there,
this week, we had some serious hardware problems which forced us to switch over to a new server. Caused by hard disc failures some data was lost - but nothing important.
Now, dDM is running on new hardware. We are still recovering data by replaying our backups. That's the reason why, some WUs still finish with download errors. We are confident, that we will be fully operational at Tuesday.
We apologize for any inconvenience.
Cheers,
Nico

New Hosting |
|
Dear Volunteers,
We are glad to inform you that BOINC server has been successfully moved to the new regular hosting!
The hosting service is kindly provided by smilesvua.
The project has a new signature code, so please detach from the project and add it again as a "new" http://physicsathome.tk/physics/ project in your BOINC manger.
Thank you for your continued support!
project team.
